My brother and his family are now living in the US of A permanently.
It’s a different dynamic since my two nephews are all grown up, in a world similar to mine when i was their age. It’s like looking at myself when i first arrived here.
Another thing i “remember” from my childhood (through theirs) is that kids born here have more restricted controlled lives. Even though i was raised the same way i often see myself objecting to the scary games on their PSPs, how my brother speaks to them, and the kinds of shows they watch (Family Guy!).
But in essence, i know their arrival age stage will not only allow them understand the childhood life they left behind but the challenging one waiting ahead for them.
Parents control their children’s environment in every possible way, which has its benefits. However, one thing i have learned through watching other parents is that kids often act and react their parents personalities. So if you want to change someone, you have to change yourself.
